OK here is a duck hunting mishap I was at Swan Creek several years ago and shot a duck way out in the dewatering area lake I was on the dike road my Lab was young and didn't see the duck fall so I could not get him to go way out because he didn't see it so later the game warden comes by checking license I ask him if he could tell me if the water was shallow enough that I could get to it with chest waders He said I think you can so dummy me decided to try I made it about 8 feet from the bank and stepped in a hole over my head and went under It was so cold when I came up my gun immediately turned to a ice cube I managed to get out and I had left my waterfowl jacket on land and had extra socks and shirt in my backpack so I changed and luckily had the best under clothes to keep warm I stayed and hunted the rest of the day But I was very lucky to not have drown and I learned a valuable lesson on how dangerous duck hunting is.
