I strap my pack to the stand, then the stand is strapped to my back and go walk. Then pull the pack up with a rope or strap it to the front bar and bring it up when I climb. This is how your do it. A turkey vest won't work with a safety harness. Rock climbing harness.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands: “The first 100 yards is also the last 100 yards.”
