Cross pollination can only affect the next generation. The cross pollination is in the seeds not the fruit of the present plant. The cross pollination would show up in the next plants fruit. Any trait in the present fruit is from the pollination that made the seed that made that plant.

If it changes the seeds, and you eat the seeds, couldn't that potentially make this years pepper hotter?

I don't know, I've heard hot peppers nearby does and doesn't.


I doubt it, just a DNA code in the seed.
