I take a knife and cut them down the side from neck to tail. The buzzards appreciate them being zipped for easy access. I tried this on a big boar and could not cut him open he was so matted up I keep a retractable razor knife/box cutter in my possibles bag for hogs. I use that first every time so I don't dull my good blades just getting thru the hair and mud.
