More likely is that he was on your home wifi and your network saved the cookies from the sites he was googling, and when you turned your phone back on, presumably also on your home wifi, it showed you the same ads.
What? I did not know this. Your router also saves cookies? I attributed it to my phone listening to my conversation while it was off. I don't pretend to be an IT expert by any stretch of the imagination...........but I know I've googled things on my phone and had ads pop up on my computer, and vice versa. My assumption is that it's because all the devices were "connected" via the same network. Your email Gomer. If you logged in here, you used your email. If you log into your laptop, youre in there under your email, same with your phone. Im pretty sure that is the connection. To them you are your email address.
