But if there was an armed person running down the street that I live on and my family lives on, I would certainly arm myself and probably confront him as to what his intentions were. Now that doesn't give me or anyone else the right to gun down someone. But as said before all the facts need to be known.


Arming yourself to protect you house/family on your property is one thing and I think if he ended up getting shot you would be within the law. Once you arm yourself and go confront him on a public road I don't think you get to claim self defense. That's just my understanding (and I am no legal scholar), I could have that wrong.
