If you're not fishing a tournament, trailer to the area you plan to fish. It will be much safer. Stay safe and wear those PFD's. Ending up in the water could be fatal now. Hypothermia is a very serious threat. Since it's cold, swimming is very difficult with heavy clothing on. Been there done that, its very dangerous.
