Just got the following email from the Huntsville Chamber to employers

The Alabama Department of Transportation has closed U.S. 231 southbound and northbound in Lacey's Spring, in Morgan County. The road developed a crack earlier this week, which has worsened significantly. ALDOT officials say engineers are working on a solution, but the repair is expected to take a significant amount of time. ALDOT has said this portion of the road will be closed indefinitely.

Employers, please be aware this will affect your team members who travel to and from Morgan County. Please share the following information with them about detours:

Northbound Traffic:

The official detour is Alabama 69 southbound to Alabama 67 northbound to Alabama 36 eastbound to U.S. 231.

Commercial trucks will detour to Alabama 69 southbound, to Alabama 67 northbound, to Interstate 65 in Priceville.

Southbound Traffic:

The official detour is Alabama 36 westbound to Alabama 67 southbound to Alabama 69 northbound to U.S. 231.

Commercial trucks will detour to Alabama 36 westbound, to Alabama 67 southbound, to Alabama 69 northbound, back to U.S. 231.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed and expect delays due to traffic being reduced to a single lane in each direction.

We’ll share more information as we learn it, and please monitor your local news stations for the latest updates.
