Trucks used to be used as trucks, they were higher in the back so that when you put a full load on them the springs didn't bottom out and point you headlights at the moon. A lot of trucks now are glorified family sedan grocery getters with an extra large trunk. I bought my 1st pickup in the early 70s, I've always used them as trucks and I've been a grandpa for 25 years
The mid size trucks of today are rated to pull about as much as everything made in the 70's. . The full size trucks have far , far more towing capacity. Even the half tons.
