Buffalo River in Arkansas is a great trip for overnight canoe camping. I've done several trips in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s, none lately though.
Tons of Scout troops do this trip from multiple sections of the River.

I'd highly recommend it.

I have been wanting do the delta since I lived in Mobile back in 2003-2005. My issue is that I would want to do winter and winter the water is up a lot. So, I know your trip wasn't good, but any recommendations? I have to say I have a little worry about Gators. None of snakes, but I've dealt with rattlesnaks and cottonmouths growing up along the Mississippi, but Gators....not so much.

I-65 to the causeway???

I'd be in a freaking hammock high off the ground if I HAD to do it.
I've seen enough of the Delta that I do not want to spend the night there.
I've slept in the Deserts of NM, Sawtooth in Idaho and the Kilibucks in Alaska
But that Delta aint no place to be sleeping.

So, I guess you're not coming?
