Possession is 9/10’s of the law....So until it reaches your hand, then its yours Not really. The contents belong to the one who mailed the item. The envelope or box the contents are in also belongs to the person who paid the postage/mailed the package. That is why if the mail carrier steals or damages the contents they can be arrested.
