Actually, it took a number of years for it to get there. First year for the creed was 2007, and as recently as 2013, it was #69 on the ammo sales list, 9 places behind 7mm-08, and 11 spots behind the 6.5 Swede. That same year, .243 was #21 on the list, .270 was #19, and .308 was #8.

Regarding rifle sales, Kimber didn't add a 6.5 creed to it's lineup until 2015. Not sure on other makers.

Again, the overhype has resulted in lots of folks buying the creed, rather than higher performance. A quick check at Buds shows that there are still .260 and 6.5 Swede rifles available new, and that the Creedmoor is not available in as many models as .243 Winchester.

I'm sure the hype machine will continue to drive more creed sales, and I'm equally sure that I will not contribute to them. If all I ever hunted was whitetail deer, I would rather have a .257 Roberts.
