After using lump for several years, I'd never go back to briquette's. I have a grill bottle with a propane torch hooked to it that stays on my back porch. It literally takes me one minute or less to have the coals going. I just lit my egg about 5 minutes ago. I'll be cooking in 10 more minutes. I make a hole in the coals, lit the torch, hold it in the bottom of the hole, get the coals red and then fill the hole back up with unburned charcoal. https://www.harborfreight.com/propane-torch-91033.htmlI use the looftligher on my egg and light it in 5 places like the number 5 on a dice. Works good and ready in no time. I’ve tried cowboy lump but it burned way to fast for me. Charcoal wise I use a chimney starter. Like was said use your old 12 pack boxes, but newspaper is best if you can still find one.
