If you ain't row crop farming, a gear tractor does nothing to help you, and a hydrostat makes everything easier.

I’ve driven one a lot. But, I prefer a gear tractor. If I was just cutting grass around the house, it would be different. I admit it is easier to use a bucket with a hydrostatic transmission. But, I’ve been driving a gear tractor my entire life and that is what I prefer.

Same here. I have owned both and prefer gears personally.
