I think this seasoning blend actually originated in India, but in the US commercial variants are some sort of a bastardized version, of lesser quality, and usually chock full of monosodium glutamate which is where they get all the "flavor" from.
There are tons of homemade recipes online, but most will require you to venture out to the nearest local Indian/Asian market for a few exotic ingredients. And also require you to obtain a mortar and pestle to grind up some of the stuff.
Mrs. Irish really likes trips to the Indian/Asian/Mexican markets, so you guys got me wanting to make some now. Plus I need to make some batches of some of my other rubs and spice blends too, such as my Butt Rub, Chicken Rub, Steak Seasoning Blend, etc... So maybe a day spent smoking on the Kamado and blending some spices is in order.
