I bought the gun with "dog money" when I was around 10 or 11 years old, which I got from the sale of a Brittany Spaniel pup, my payment for taking care of my Dad's bird dogs.

I killed a 7 pt (probably a 3 1/2 year old deer) and I thought it was a giant. I was hunting on the ground and the deer came up a hill and when it topped the rise, 15 yards away, I quickly shouldered my open sighted 30-30 and shot the deer in the base of the neck. It dropped. I drug it about a half mile, mostly jogging, I was so pumped up. I was 16.
