The bill of sale also had to have my address on it, and had to be notarized. Plus I had to give him my current registeration, to show it matched my address on the bill of sale and that I had the legal right to sell the boat. All this according to the Shelby County License office.

all ive ever given or been given is a bill of sale and the current certificate of registration that has hull numbers on it never had a problem just go to courthouse and transfer ownership registration. this is also why you shouldnt store your boat with the registration in it

Me too. Until this time. I’ve bought and sold numerous boats over the last 25 years. This is the first time I’ve ever had to do all of that.
