We recently had some old home videos put onto DVD. My wife and I were watching them the other night and started laughing about how we were always “bossing” and telling our son what to do, then explaining the consequences if he didn’t listen.

I don’t want to pretend we were “Parents of the Year”, but our son (27) turned out pretty well and I think a lot of that had to do with 2-things. He was raised in a household with two parents and the other was that we established rules and expectations with punishment being administered consistently based on behavior.
