I've got a 2004 GE 40 Gal. Electric water heater that is starting to have some issues. Its blown the 30 Amp breaker several times in the past few days. I'm pretty sure it just needs a new element and a good flushing out, but I am wondering if I should just go ahead and replace it now and be done with it since it's 15 years old? From what I have seen at the local lowes and Home Depot it looks like I would have to drop $550-650 for a new one(gas not an option in my neighborhood). With the state of our water supply being full of lime and such(I've already got a whole house filter in place), Should I just flush the tank real good and replace the element? What do the Aldeer engineer's think?
