I don't like em for a protection gun, but I got a ton of windows and a door in my bedroom...it just seems like if someone busted in I wouldn't have time to access it so I keep one on the mantle. i got 4 kids 3-12 the 3 year old knows better but he's still 3...the others r good and understand the loud boom... You really need to reconsider your safety. An unsecured, loaded gun easily accessible by kids is a terrible situation.
