It isn’t that high. Don’t buy into the media acting like it is. Missing children in the US is a shadow of what it was in the 1970s. There are less than 2000 kidnappings a year and almost all of them are by a family member. Less than 500 a year are kidnapped by a stranger. Those really high numbers you see include little Timmy who didn’t come home from the playground on time and him mom calls the cops and they find him two streets over playing with a friend and teenage runaways. Missing and kidnapped are not the same.
