Saw an episode of ''Meat Eater'' where they raved about and cooked some shanks. So took the rear shanks off the buck I shot opening day and cooked them up this evening. Man that was some count. Better than a roast any day of the week.
Used the ol crock pot method. Seasoned the shanks and put them on the bottom. Loaded up with celery, carrots, onion, and taters. Poured a can of condensed golden mushroom on top, then added salt and pepper, and cooked on low for about 8hrs. Never again will I let that meat go to waste!
If there's any doubt, then there is no doubt... The gut don't never lie.
