I killed a lot of deer back in the 80s when bow hunting was just getting popular with the general public. I shot so much at targets before season opening it was an automatic reaction when shooting. I had it locked in my mind every time I drew a string back. I just went on automatic and never even thought about what I was doing. It was just a natural response to the situation I was experiencing. Once the shot was made and the deer was running away I would always get nervous and shaky. Happened every time I shot because I couldn’t practice the after shot scenario. I still get excited after the shot but not so at all when making the shot itself. Practice makes perfect. I don’t think I practice nearly enough now. Hope this helps.
