Very simple explanation... they’re dead.
Just kidding. They obviously have a different fall/winter home range than they do in the summer. Could have moved just a short distance or could be well off your property. I’ve seen their summer/winter home ranges differ by 1.5-2 miles. They could show back up, just that time of year. might be meant as a joke but might be a fact . they dint show back up and next year he kills a couple with long hollowed toe nails ,,,,,, they gone !!!!
