He's just using the fonetik spelling. dactyl, from the Middle English : dactile and the Greek: daktylus a word with first sylable is accented and last 2 aren't (tenderly, humanly) , reference to the joints on a finger (1 long joint and 2 lesser joints). I was bored and looked it up.
