I've probably killed around 100 deer with my old Marlin 30-30 and the vast majority of them were killed with your plain old 170 gr flat nose...Remington or Winchester. That being said though, I'm gonna try some of the 150 gr powermax that Johnhyloco is recommending next year. Right now I'm using my 30-30 as my blood tracking gun.
