Before this goes on, I've held that belief for years. But I've also seen it in traditional churches where the performance seemed to overshadow the meaning, which IMO is to make a joyful noise until the Lord.

I agree with the OP. Sing the anthem in about 2:30 or so, don't try to make it about yourself and have some appreciation for what it is instead of gaping in the spotlight for as long as you can drag it out.
