I worked as an orderly in a hospital just out of high school. I was about as naive as you can be, and went to an all white school 1st to 12th, so this was my first exposure to other, um, cultures...there was a black orderly that was pretty cool, and helped me out learning the ropes. One day, one of the other orderlies came up to me at the end of my shift, and asked me if I'd work a double, work Otis's shift. Is Otis sick? Naw, man, he shot! What??? I was really upset, and the guy says, Hey, man, calm down, Otis just shot! He ain't DEAD or nuthin' !!
