Any new stories have to be looked at with a grain of salt. There are gonna be a bunch of folks looking for attention and $$ that are gonna try to get on the Penn State wagon.
That story sounds a bit fishy.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
