Thanks for the comments. I did quite a bit of research, looking and theorizing, and in the end I still had second thoughts and I still do, however I rest easy knowing that I'll never have to paint the upper areas, and I think the galvanized tin will only get better looking over time with the oxidation and rust that will develop.

At least that's the hope...
