Most of the guys I grew up playing ball with that played years of travel ball never made it to thru the first year of college ball or a year or 2 after being drafted. Tommy John and shoulder surgeries for most of them. My dad refused to let me throw a curve ball until I was in 7-8th grade and I'm thankful for it.

Only exception that I grew up playing with is Josh Donaldson. He is definitely on top of his game

My son played on some teams with Josh Donaldson when they were Seniors in HS. I think one reason his arm was good is that I never saw him pitch.


He pitched pretty regular in little league, could sling the hell out of it just had no control. I hated hitting against him.

He is still a down to earth guy. Money hasn't changed him too bad. We went down to Tampa and watched him play this past season. He invited several of us over to his house after the game to watch the auburn game. Super happy for him, he deserves it
