X2 on the bank blade. Far safer than a machete, far more effective. Like Turkey247, grew up working for my father's survey crews. The new rodmen would pick a machete for the first day cutting line, then go for the bank blades (which we grew up calling bush hooks.) In a pinch, they'll substitute for a shovel digging trucks out of mud holes.....or paddle a boat. (Don't ask me how I know.)
