It depends on what kind of system he's talking about. We have a line up of 5 ton units that could set a man back nearly 15k, but that's on rare occasions and the Creme de-la creme as far as AC systems go.
10k may be in the ball park, but probably on the higher side, depending. 5k strait up on a 5 ton would be a good deal. Does he mean you helping him labor wise on the install or helping him with 5k worth of I.O.Us?
He's family. So he would buy it and I would reimburse him for the cost and some labor charge. And we would install the unit. Installing it would be a piece of cake here.
