I hunted Pickens County for 10+ years. It's hit or miss. When you hit it you hit it BIG. when you miss its skank buck city and all you can do is hope for an errant buck in the rut. Actually hunted a few hundred acres just outside the city of Carollton (like 2 miles maybe). The land looked amazing, great mix of timber and pines. Saw one decent deer on it in 3 years (~140"). Always had better luck towards Aliceville. The closer to the river the better. We took 150" deer in 4 consecutive years on leases toward the Tombigbee.

The buck stops here.
