They are all individuals. It also depends on what time of year it is, Summer, most of them not far. During rut, some not far, some several miles. No one size fits all when it comes to bucks.


Ya'll need to read Dr. Mark Connor's findings on the buck movement study he did on Chesapeake Farms. Better yet hear him speak on it, best seminar I ever heard and I've heard quite a few. Above you will find a very short Cliff Notes version.

BTW, while doing the tracking , they saw quite a bit of hunter/stand avoidance. Bucks doing a horse shoe around stands just out of sight of hunters.


I have read it and it is quite interesting. If I remember correctly this study was done on a farm in Maryland. I just prefer studies done in a more local deer herd. I always find myself looking at a study done elsewhere and wondering if the local deer act and react the same. A LOT of studies have been done in Texas that I have read. For selfish reasons I wish all studies where done in Alabama!!
