TRAFFIC ALERT: Multiple car/18-wheeler crash affects I-65 SB near Jemison/Thorsby

CHILTON CO., AL (WSFA) - Alabama State Troopers are working the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in Chilton County at this hour. Authorities say the wreck is affecting southbound lanes around the 216 mile marker. That's approximately three miles south of the Jemison/Thorsby exit (219).

The crash involves four 18-wheelers and several passenger vehicles. No information is currently known about injuries.

Authorities are re-routing I-65 SB traffic onto exit 219. To get back onto I-65 from 219 you can exit the interstate and turn right. Take County Road 42 to downtown Jemison. Then turn left onto U.S. Highway 31. This route will take you through Clanton at which point you can re-enter the interstate at exit 205.

Motorists should avoid this area of I-65 at this time.
