My son and I had hunted hard Monday and Tuesday. We had several goods bucks on camera that were still traveling together. All we saw were two does and I had to go back to work today. He stayed with my Dad and they went today. At about 1 minute till shooting light was gone one of the smaller two (which is still a good deer) showed up. He said he could barely make out the cross hairs and took the shot and missed. He was torn out of the frame. My dad, who is not a deer hunter but a very good woodsman, said he felt like he missed him. They found no blood and no hair but are going back tomorrow to comb the area good. I hate he missed but I think it taught him a few things. He said, Dad I messed up on three things: I didn't have my gun ready at deer killing time, I didn't get the scope on him as quickly as I could, and I took a shot I was not 100% comfortable with. I think he grew up a lot today. I hope we find it in the morning but it is doubtful.
