create a scrape? I don't mean pee or scratch around in an existing scrape, I mean actually create one.

I scouted an area Saturday morning after I got down. I'm pretty sure I'd heard a doe (this will be another thread) not far from the tree I'd climbed. As I was scouting I found a lot of fresh poop on a trail. I also found 4 fresh scrapes but not a single rub anywhere except one, which, as it turned out was located under the tree I climbed in the dark. This solitary rub was about 200 yds from the nearest scrape. The scrape ran along an old road bed for a few hundred yards. I've never really seen a scrape line of any length that didn't have at least some rubs along with it. I was actually hunting on a gas cut, the first scrape I found was on the edge of the gas cut where a trail entered the woods. There should have been rubs at that location but weren't. The whole thing just got me to wondering if it was possible that the area wasn't holding a lot of bucks and if possibly the doe was offering a little encouragement or something by creating the scrapes and scenting them up?

Opinions welcome but facts are better.

I've seen scrape lines with no rubs and watched bucked run the scrapes. Keep hanging out there and maybe you'll catch one cruising.

I'm guessing there's a rub line on the downwind side of the scrape line somewhere. Also if you're area has a lower buck density there usually seems to be less rubbing and scraping in general. My observations anyway.
