I agree with outback, and throw in the fact the people are using them as family vehicles now days and not just for work. I’ve been wanting a new truck for a while but even one that’s three years old is almost as much as new one and doesn’t matter what brand.

My newest one is 10 years old. I'm afraid that's as close, to a new one, as I will ever get.
I been priced out of the new market for 20 years.

Been driving my 06GMC with a 5.3 since 2010.

Paid for when I bought it.

Got 225k on it.

It's a WT package. I love it. I rebuilt the front end and new shocks on rear.

I'm going to spend 3k-4k and put a crate motor in it probably this spring. Drive it another 200k.

I'm not spending 25k on a truck no better than what I got.

I finally got the insurance final payoff numbers on my Tacoma I wrecked a month ago. It was a 2014 with 89,000 miles on it, 4 door with all the bells and whistles. They said the value was $25,147 which was less than I thought.

I found a 2014 Ford, 1 owner that lives in Ft Walton Beach, 5.0, 4 door, 4 wheel drive, with 69,000 miles on it I'm going to go get this afternoon for $20,250. It was the best value truck I could find, and it has plenty of room in it.

Four years old better climb under that thing and check for salt rust just as a precaution.

I agree. Dropped $4700(it hurt but well wotth it) on a custom built trans, another 3k on topend rebuild(not injectors tho),coolant system redone and oil cooler rebuilt, suspension and diffs gone thru on entire truck and tires 2 summers ago(25k miles ago). Now with all that said i did all the work except trans and tires. The truck gpt tornado damage in 2014 and had 7k worth of paint and repars done also. With all that's been done there's no way that i could go buy a used one in the shape mines in for that price let alone a new diesel. Can't find a 3/4ton 7.3 manual 4wd that's not been put thru the mill anyways for a decent price.

My 2007 GMC Sierra Crew Cab 4x4 with 214K miles , even with the AFM and having to add 3 quarts of oil between oil changes, is looking good still. Been paid off for 8 years. Gonna keep it until it dies, then I'll revive it and keep on keeping on.
Had lifters replaced, new shocks, new front wheel bearings in January. Figure the transmission will be the next thing to go out. Son messed up my rear bumper and I'll get that fixed, maybe.
Cheaper to repair than to by used or new these days. Company truck so we use the business to pay for major repairs.

My father-in-law has a 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch with only 63K miles that I drive for work often. He's about to retire and I'll probably take that truck over. I'm going to hold on to my GMC though.

For sure. There is a small dealership here that specializes in used 4X4 pickups it seems, and the prices they are asking for 10 year old trucks with hundreds of thousands of miles is absolutely asinine. But as they say, something's worth what someone will pay for it.

That and a close look at the paint/clear coat. Uncle had a truck and suv bought new in 2002/ 2003 and by 2006 the clear was peeling off and paint faded. These vehicles were kept under the house on Ft Morgan/little lagoon when not driving/using. Also the hubs and everything under then had surface rust, etc.

You should have that AFM deleted right away.
That's what caused mine to stick a lifter and ruin the cam.
I don't think that little bit of added fuel economy is worth the damage it causes.

That is a good deal. Does seem like trucks are cheaper in Florida.

If I was in the market for a truck I'd look in Texas.

Yep, I know a guy in Alabaster that will do it. He does good work. I am having it done to my wife's yukon since it is out of warranty.
