"It Starts with Food" My wife and I read that book in June. Decided to eat what the book told us to eat and not eat what the book told us not to eat. No additional exercise nothing else. Before this I had high blood pressure, high blood sugar, sleep apnea, and weighed 285 pounds. Today, my blood pressure is great, blood sugar is perfect, sleep apnea is gone, and I weigh 239 pounds. My daughter had eczema and it cleared up in 7 days of changing what we eat. No Alcohol No beans No dairy = No Irishguy

In my experience that's going to be high. I would shoot for the 2200-2400 range. I decided to round it down to a nice 2500 for now and may even round it down more once I see where the scale is heading. The tough part of Myfitness pal is estimating the nutrition levels of your own homemade food. Like today I'm having my homemade gumbo for lunch and I'm looking at various gumbo inputs on Myfitnesspal and just kind of guessing at which one mine is most like.

Wife had that issue when she used Myfitnesspal. It's also difficult if you don't weigh your food, as most of the meat is in grams or ounces.

I will not quit cooking good food, I will just eat less of it and cut out what little junk food I eat. ...one thing that'll burn a chit-load of calories is wind sprints -- do 'em on a grassy, football field & give it 85-90% effort ... Agree totally. Basically what I do on the elliptical trainer is wind sprints. I do 12 reps alternating between an increasing time of high intensity "running" and a decreasing time of lower intensity "walking." Each session burns about 200 calories in about 15 minutes. yes sir, that's what i'm talkin' 'bout!

I'm going for under 1500 calories. Don't know how long I can do it but so far it hasn't been too bad. Had an arby's chicken sandwich yesterday and a chic-fil-a sandwich last night. Had Chicken and rice soup for lunch today and drinking a lot of water. I'll have a good meal tonight. Dr. B

Cutting down on the beer and bourbon... Not so much. Something that seems to help with the water intake is to drink the carbonated lime flavored water, or throw a slice of lemon or lime or both in the water with ice.

I'm gonna stick to the Micky Ultras on the weekends. I may have a glass of vino a couple of nights a week. It's just hard not to pound those Bud Lights on football Saturdays or around the fire at deer camp.

The Myfitnesspal online tool is pretty cool too. I went ahead and plugged in what I was cooking for dinner and the 2 whiskeys I am going to drink while I'm making it. Protein shake for breakfast Homemade gumbo, French bread and a little rice for lunch Ham and bean soup for dinner with a little corn bread Almonds for snacks 5 - 20oz Yeti's of water 2 - Bourbon on the rocks 2155 calories for the day...

Irish, if you like oatmeal I can give you the recipe for overnight protein oats that I'll make at least once a week and they're killer. They're served cold and grab and go so they're super easy/portable.

I just throw about 1/4 cup of raw oats in the Ninja with the rest of the stuff in my protein shake and pulverize it all, but yeah... The overnight high protein oats sound good. I could make them in a little jar and take them to the office.

Bingo. 1 banana 1 tablespoon peanut butter 3/4 cup raw oats 3/4 cup milk (we use almond milk but any will do) 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 1 teaspoon honey I like to mash up the banana in the container first, then mix in the peanut butter, then add the rest of the ingredients and stir. Place in the refrigerator overnight and enjoy the next morning. Quantities can be enlarged, but the oat to milk ratio should be 1/1.

The MyFitnessPal app will let you enter recipes now, but you will need to know the serving amount. That could be helpful with all of the home cooking.
Thought I'd pass that along.

The easy way to do this is for ME to come over and eat up all your food before you can. I'll bring you a protein shake to drink while you watch me eat.... Win win all the way around. What time you showin' up? I'm off to a good start... ... I've gained 1.2 pounds on my first day! 196.6# this morning!
