I think about this case every time I drive by the entrance at Lake Cyrus. No neighborhood is safe anymore.

This was the guy that killed the veteran going out to his car one morning in Bham?

The state made a deal with the wrong guy. They cut a deal with the triggerman. He testified against Wells and said Wells was the shooter. I evidence went the other way and they real triggerman couldn't keep up his lies good enough on the stand under cross examination.

Yep, this was the case; and my truck and 3 other vehicles in our Hoover neighborhood were burglarized 2 days later. Pretty scary stuff.

So on the stand the deal cutter in light of the presented evidence made it obvious somehow that Wells wasn't the trigger man...so much so for a not guilt verdict?

Basically, yes. I talked to his lawyer this afternoon. The co-defendant crumbled on the stand and Wells testimony was apparently very believable to the jury that although he was there he didn't know the guy was going to shoot anyone or that he even had a gun.

What about being guilty by association? Is that not the case since he said he didn't know the guy was going to shoot anyone? He was there and I suppose he went with the two guys when they ran. I guess I don't understand all this stuff. I was impressed by what Gilotti's wife said after the trial. It's all in God's hands.

How in the hell are deals cut with killers?

Does Alabama not have that law that says if you're involved in a crime and someone gets killed, even if the homeowner defending his property kills your accomplice, you get charged with murder?

Only thing if the murder is forseeable or you know if it likely to occur. If you are with someone and they kill someone without you having reason to know it was going to happen or without it being probable that it would occur, you are not guilty. You have to aid and abet the murder. Here, they presented a case that he wasn't with someone else when the murder happened. The state's entire case was he did it. The jury didn't believe the state's witnesses. You can't change your theory of the crime after you have told the jury over and over again that the defendant killed shot someone to say, well, I guess we were wrong. Everyone we put in the stand was lying. But, you should find him guilty anyway because he was there.

If they had tried the case saying he was an accomplice, they would more likely have gotten a conviction.

Get a rope for all of them

Fire the Prosecutor and any of their staff involved. Eventually No Lives will Matter and this low down scum will be dealt with again. These incidents just move us closer to the time when scores can be settled properly.

Wonder if they will charge him with all the car burglaries that they have done? They were in Pelham and Fultondale before this happened.

Question for Doekiller, if he knows. I read the AL.com article and it said one of the defense attorneys was a high profile lawyer from Los Angeles. Do you know how he got involved? Was it pro bono for some cause, or did the family hire him? I realize you may not know, but they apparently did their job better than the DA's office did theirs.

Eric holder got the high profile lawyer ,,,Odumbo got them the verdict..
