I killed one two years ago in Kansas that was 26 lbs 5 oz on one scale and 26lbs 3 oz on another. Biggest I've ever killed.

Didn't somebody on here say they killed one last year that weighed like 29 lbs or something? N2Turkeys did.

Isnt a true eastern male turkey 15-16lbs? These killed now are just fed better and cross bred with other breeds over the years?
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Depends on the area, what they eat, and what kind of terrain they walk.
The place I'm currently hunting will probably never produce a 20 lb bird.
But across the board - you can make two assumptions. 1) Hunters will over estimate and weigh turkey incorrectly. 2) the average AL gobbler will be under 20 lbs, if you weighed every turkey killed in a single year. Ours usually average about 16lbs. I've killed several over the years that were over 20 and know of one killed this year that was 25lbs. That's a monster for our area.

Just today's turkeys.
Fat, lazy, good for nothing gobblers, wanting free hand outs of corn, seed, and feed.
Not willing to do nothing or make an effort at all. Won't even go to a good looking and sounding hen, wanting her to come to him and just lay down.
Then you got the openly strutting and displaying gobblers hanging out only together and sounding off at anything they don't like.
I tell ya, I don't know what the woods are coming to these days.

God Bless, David B. Good post! I can remember when most gobblers would find a nice hen and mate with her for life, then help her with nesting and raising the poults. Any gobbler I see now behaving responsibly like this is gonna get a pass from me. But now most of the gobblers are just plain sorry, as my grandmother would have said. They seek immoral relationships with as many hens as possible, and then immediately desert them. When the hens are trying to raise the poults, they all get together and roam the country seeking mischief like the bunch of rogues they are. One of my goals is to bring justice upon these irresponsible gobblers and restore some morals to the turkey population. That's the only way to reverse the decline.
