I've made a few lately that I really like:
3 reed cutter
3 reed split v
3 reed v combo cutt

Before I started making my own, my favorite production call was Woodhaven's Sadler McGraw 2.5 reed ghost cutt. Very versatile...

Woodhaven makes some pretty good mass production calls but I haven't used one yet that can touch a custom, hand made call.

My favorite call is a 3 reed call(2 prophylactic reeds and one, 3,000 piece of latex) stretched to a medium tension. I like it in some kind of variation of a bat cut or shipwreck cut. To me, this is the easiest call to use and produces the most realistic yelps I have ever heard.

Me to, for what ever reason I have a harder time running the tighter stretched calls.

I make my own and a 2 reed ghost cut stretched 1/2" right now is my favorite. I am still exploring some new cuts and tensions everyday it seems. I have a 3 reed gray over 2 yellows with a V cut that I like too.

Woodhaven calls are deadly. I use the ones with orange reed and yellow reed. One is called "Hornet" and the other is "Copperhead" I think. Best commercial call made in my opinion. A pile of gobs got shot in the face when I've used them. Never had a custom mouth call so if someone wants to send me one, I'll pay for it.

Can the Hustlin Hen still be purchased? I heard one a few years ago and agree, it is one sweet sounding box call. Seems I looked for one and didn't see any for sale.

Something that probably should be mentioned is that all calls are custom made to a degree. Saw a comment by Sadler McGraw on the GON forum the other day... he stated there's no such thing as a "commercial diaphragm call machine."

In the industry, the larger companies like Primos and HS Strut contract call builders to make their calls for them. And... if companies like Woodhaven can't get all their quota with "their people," they will occasionally do the same. In fact, I have a friend who has a friend who stretches calls for Preston Pittman.

McGraw said the funny thing is that he's heard some folks claim they couldn't blow one brand of call... but be able to master another brand when it turns out that both were made by the same person. smile TIFWIW
