When I shoot, my bow tries to point up. This is causing me to have to grip my bow a little tighter than I did with my old bow. It seems like it causes me to shoot high unless I close my grip more. Do I need a heavier stabilizer? Or is this a normal motion for the bow after the shot?

Do you use a wrist sling? If not, get one. You shouldn't be gripping the bow. The wrist sling is there to catch the bow so you can hold it loosely.

You should be holding the bow something like this:

If you're having trouble with the bow wanting to point high at full draw, the added weight of a stabilizer will help you as well.

I use a sling and really don't like to grip. It started with this newer setup. As soon as I release an arrow, it tries to point up. I'll have to pay closer attention at full draw.

Thanks for the Info. I think it is the stabilizer. I think I need a heavier stabilizer.

Most bows will have an upward kick when shot, but the arrow should be gone by that time. The weight of a stabilizer will minimize it. Just make sure you're not anticipating the shot and heeling the bow.

I'm going to shoot it some more before I change stabilizers. I'm gonna make a friend watch to double check I'm not moving my anchor point. I'm also going back to my older arrows that are a little longer than the ones that came with the bow. I was worried I would catch a knuckle with a broadhead (I think they were cut too short.) I'm wondering if maybe that messed with my grip a little.

If you have that thought running through your head, absolutely. That's why I cut my hunting shafts to my draw length. That puts the end of the shaft at the front edge of my riser at full draw. The broadhead will be in front of my knuckle. I have hit my knuckle numerous times with a fletch upon release.

I have hit my knuckle with the fletch a lot, then I got these arrows. They put the broadhead right in front of the rest. I realized that a broadhead would do a lot more to my knuckle and was concentrating on keeping my knuckle down. I'm thinking I just give these arrows to a friend and use my older ones. They keep the broadhead just in front of my knuckle.
