Well, I suppose I'm going to kill stuff with the Hornady load until I get my reloading set up and I'm able to do a lot more testing and tweeking.

I had a Montana in 270 WSM and it was the best feeling gun I ever owned.
However I spent $200 in ammo and never found anything it would consistently group under 1.75" at 100 yards. It would also break the tips off of ballistic tip bullets in the magazine each time it was fired.
Also you had to double clutch the bolt to chamber a round from the magazine. I sent it back to Kimber and they polished the feed ramp and said there wasn't an issue with the accuracy, or lack thereof!
I sold the Montana Since I have several rifle costing half as much that easily shoot a MOA with factory ammo.
I really wish the gun would have been a shooter because I loved the feel of it! I am of the opinion that you shouldn't have to tweak a 1K rifle just to make it shoot a MOA.
I'd buy a used one in a heart beat if I could shoot it first and it would shoot a MOA.

X3 , I had a M84 in .243 , that thing wouldn't shoot worth a hoot, MOF it might have been the worst, certainly one of the worst shooting rifles I ever owned. Had to find it a new home. Maybe R. H. can find a good round it likes, and not have to spend a bunch of $ on it.

I have had to "fix" every Kimber I've owned. Love the guns. Just need a little tweaking, although I have heard they stepped up with quality in recent years. By "fix" I mean work on the stock. I haven't had any issues with the actions or barrels.

Yes, and it is not real difficult. For your first Rodeo I'd get some Acraglas Gel from Brownells. It is a good product and less messy/easier to work with.
Most likely that is the direction you are headed, but I'd shoot some more to confirm.
I did have one Kimber that the stock was touching on so take a piece of paper and slip under the barrel to at least confirm the easier stuff. And if you pull it apart look at the mag well just to double check their too. Seems like I had one that moved but it was bottoming out. Speaking of make sure your scope base screws aren't bottoming out as well.

I just bought a 7-08 Montana myself but I ain't had a chance to shoot it yet. I hope it shoots dime sized groups and I ain't gotta fool with it. I also shot a few far from dime size. I can tell you it is a little harder to shoot than a rifle 2 lbs heavier. You'll love the gun hunting. The only thing I've ever had that isn't custom that I think rivals it is the Nosler rifle. But at the price difference I'll stick with the Montana.
If you get into reloading... I'm shooting a 140 Sierra, IMR 4064 42 gr., BR-2 primer and Winchester Case. Nothing fancy but has shot well in every 7-08 I've ever owned with about any of the 140's. Never had one run outa sight.

In my opinion, and if I owned one of these rifles I would care less what size group it shot. As long as the cold bore shot is right where I want it then I would be happy. These rifles are built to be light, not to shoot dime size groups.
