I would like to see a nine game conference schedule plus another game against a team from another major conference. I think all conferences should have to do this plus play a conference championship game. No round robin and no exceptions.

And yes this might be an end to some long time rival games but so be it in my opinion.

Don't they already play 8 SEC games?

I would also like to see a 9 game SEC schedule. Play the 6 division teams, the traditional cross division rival, and 2 cross division rotating teams. This way you could keep the UA/Tenn & AU/UGA games along with the others. I believe that an actual conference championship game should be mandatory for all conferences.

Alabama fan or not, I enjoy better college football games. I honestly believe that playing better competition will create better football to watch.( Is this to complicated for some to understand?).. Do ya'll not have a preference? Would you just assume that your Tigers keep playing teams like Ark State, Western Carolina, And Florida Atlantic? Or are you guys simply against it because " The Bammers are for it" That's real good logic I suppose, And I guess I really shouldn't expect anything else from Auburn Fans. If mediocre boring games gets you excited, so be it. But I much rather watch good football games.

I didn't start this thread to turn into an Auburn or Alabama pissing and moaning contest. That's one reason why I've been staying away from this forum because it gets a little old. All I asked is what do any of you think about a possible 9 game SEC schedule. So don't give me any chew rouge over it.

I really don't understand why any "fan" would oppose it. If it were up to me there wouldn't be any scrub games, unless that scrub team happens to be a conference opponent or division 1 team that happened to have a down season. The non conference games would be against respectable opponents.

Guess that's not enough..... It's already hard enough to win in the SEC..... I don't see the reason to add a ninth game..... If you wanna add competition....add a tougher out of conference team..... The SEC doesn't need to make it tougher than it already is.... It's already the toughest conference in the nation hands down... We don't need to beat ourselves up more than we already are..... Especially if we want two teams in that four team playoff.... Even if it's a slim chance.....we don't want to eliminate the chance altogether....

People said the same exact things when the SEC decided to have an actual conference championship game. In retrospect, it wasn't such a bad decision.

With the new 4 team playoff, Strength of schedule will be a huge factor. Now, We SEC fans understand that 8 games is hard enough especially with an SEC championship game on top of that. But these buffoons that will be making the decisions on who is in the playoff will likely think that A pac-12, big-12, and soon to be big10 9 game schedule trumps an 8 game SEC schedule. To me, I think that adding an extra conference game would only help us get the 2 teams that we usually deserve into the playoff. My first issue with it all is that They really need to focus on each conference having actual championship games before the playoff becomes a total mess.

But even if other conferences have to play 9 games plus a championship doesnt mean they will be a hard road for them like the sec. some will have an easy time beating 9 teams from a weaker in house conference.

Increasing the number of conference games takes out a week that you can't schedule a good out of conference game. Alabama has had a great history of scheduling teams like Penn State that are usually good games every year. It takes years to schedule games against the traditionally top teams and the 9 game schedule would only make it harder.

This is all about $.

When I was at Ole Miss, the SEC played 11 games (7 SEC games-4 non conf)) plus any bowl game.

Then the SEC divided and everyone played 12 games (8 SEC and 4 non-conf), plus conf championship plus any bowl game.

Now we've added more teams, and want to add another conference game? 12 games (9 SEC and 3 non Conf)?

This is all about TV money.

I think 8 conference games are enough. If each school wants to be competitive with strength of schedule then it is up to them to schedule power teams in other conferences.

There isn't an SEC school that has a coach or administrator that hasn't at some point scheduled a cupcake team so that their team could rest a little...repeat year after year. Alabama does it, Auburn does it, Ole Miss does it. Sometimes we are the cupcake so y'all get 2 in one season when that happens

I wouldn't want them to add another conference game on top of what we have. But they could remove 1 of the 3 cupcake games and add another conference game or better non conference game. Either way, 3 cupcakes plus 2 bye weeks per season bores me. I know its hard to know who will be a good team several years from now, but they could at least schedule name brand teams. Of coyrse it likely won't happen so this is just my 2 cents.

PRETTY SOON IT WILL BE JUST THE SEC VS THE SEC AND WINNER TAKES ON WHOEVER IN ANOTHER CONFERENCE.

All the other conferences would love it...
