It has turned into big business.
If the SOB's would put the same effort into doing something honest no telling what they could do. Some of them computer wizards go to work for the government when their caught.So nope they never do anything honest with their lives. .

I was hacked a few years ago. Man at the bank told me never use a debit card, always use credit. Its the pin number that the hackers want. never use a pin number that has something to do with you like your birth date or wedding year.

Open two checking accounts
One for nothing but bill paying. No other spending
One for debit/grocery/eating out/online spending. Keep $100.00 or less in this account. Move $ when you need it for a bigger purchase than the balance on the account. That's the card that will get stolen. They can't take you for more than $100.00.
It's a pain in the azz, but it works. With mobile banking, you can transfer money in 5 minutes with a phone call or app. Yep! And, even if one gets compromised....you have a backup while cancelling and re-issuing new cards.
