I know several business owners that don't pay the business privilege tax. They never have and never will. I was told it is not on the books as a tax law in the state of Alabama and could not be enforced as a tax. I could be wrong though so check into it more.

Do away with income tax. Set a standard nationwide sales tax at <4% and then its fair for everyone. The low income folks would still pay taxes on what they purchase vs little to no tax revenue now and the mega rich would pay the same % on the multi million dollar purchases they make every year.

I once heard the statement "If the tax code is complicated and unfair it is because politicians want it that way" and I believe that.

We got back a great return this year. We paid someone to do them for the first time ever and they found us a little extra that we were missing but also charged us good too. I actually got to claim TC as a dependent
