What type weed/feed do you recommend for Bermuda grass with dandelions and other weeds? Others I can't tell, but was able to identify one from a previous post as Henbit. Could I spread before the rain on Friday?

I've always used the Scott's brand weed and feed and it does great. I have centipede though, but imagine that it works equally well on bermuda grass.

A landscaper buddy of mine told me the Scott's is the best you can get without having the permits to buy the "good stuff" that landscapers can use.

I gave up trying to treat my bermuda... I tried everything on the market and didn't seem to be getting anywhere... You would be better off letting the pros spray it a few times to get it under control and then you take over from there... No contracts involved... You'll spend that much trying to keep the weeds under control...especially when the summer hits...

I recommend Scotts as well. I sometimes have to hit dollar weed twice with it in my st. augastine. But it gets everything else on the first try. They also make just a Scotts weed killer without the fert.

Best thing for Bermuda is spray it with round up befor it starts getting green. Works great for me and gets rid of all the weeds. End of the summer I will spray it with MSMA

Dimension pre-em right now for the weeds that haven't come up yet. Spray the existing weeds with MSMA when it warms up a little. Round Up when it goes dormant in the fall. CD.

Google Bermuda Bible for a monthly outline on what to do for a great looking lawn.

I got a yard guy to spray at work last year.... We had no grass and it was a sod yard 7 years ago when they built the place.....it had never been treated so when I started I got a well known local guy to start treatment. He killed everything but the fescue last year and killed it this winter with his roundup treatment. It is going to look great this year. Heck, it looked awesome at the end of growing season last year. He does 7 treatments a year. I finally told him he could do my yard too. I spend a lot of time and money on fertilize and preemergent and it still doesn't look good enough for me. He will have it looking better and it will run me about the same as having to do it all myself.

I had one of the commercial " lawn care" companies comeing to spray mine for about 2 years.. They never did get the weeds under control.

Pre emergent works better than trying to kill them after they are there.

Will cost you about $20 every 3 months... I use Fertilome brand.
Its a different mix for every 3 month application to treat the weeds based on their germination time of the year.

After 2 years of applying pre emergent (spreads like fertilizer)
my yard is almost weed free while the neighbors yard is full of all kinds of stuff popping up in it right now.

I use Wayne's, I think the price has to do with the number of customers around you. I only pay $25 a month, that's 8 treatments including lime, fertilizer, pre emerg. I believe its that cheap because they treat prob 50 houses in my neighborhood, they can mix up a big tank and go from house to house quickly.

I've been pleased with them so far.

They know people will pay it.

A guy a few houses up from ours gets on his hands-knees crawling around picking weeds. I've seen him also trimming the edges along the sidewalk with scissors. No joke. We call him Edward Scissorhands.

We did this, too. Finally stopped using them. Got a knock on the door one day. Guy with the same company we had stopped using.

"Hello, sir, I'm with WeedBFree service. Noticed you have some yard care issues and we'd like to talk with you about helping and give a free estimate."

"You didn't kill them last year when we used you. Why would I think you could get the job done this year?"

Conversation didn't last long after that.

Weeds have to be treated both in the spring, and in the fall. Spray gly, before grass greens up, to kill weeds. As long as the grass is dormant, it wont hurt it. During the summer, use 2,4,d for broadleaf control. I've never been one of those guys who freak out, if there are a few weeds in the yard, as long as its green.LOL

They are the worst bunch you could possibly go with. Find an independent outfit. Ask folks at church or your neighbors who they use.

Shop it around just like you would buying a car.

I started using Spring-Green this year after doing it myself using Scott's in the past. They are doing it for a few bucks cheaper than I was doing it myself. They've done a great job thus far.
