Hands down, the best hunt I've ever been on. I met Dad this morning and we headed out about 6:25. We slowly made our way up a huge ridge to an area where we can hear any bird gobbling on the whole place. I hooted at the top, nothing. We walked about 75 yards and one one sounded off about 1/4 mile from us to the west. We closed the distance a couple hundred yards and I told dad to go ahead and set up on an old roadbed where they like to pitch out and strut. As he was getting settled in I softly yelped, and was cut off by a bird less than 100 yards away. I crouched down in the road and crawled to the edge. As I was doing this he pitched out, landed in a food plot, gobbled, and started heading our way. I saw dad ease his gun up and I knew he was closing the distance. I could not see the bird from my perspective, but from watching dad I knew what was about to happen. I heard the bird spit and drum, and shortly after that KABOOM! I looked at dad, he looked at me, and I could hear the bird doing a death flop. I jumped up real quick and took off toward the sound, and the dang bird looked at me, jumped up, and took off. I was close behind, and kicked it in high gear. I chased the bird down a ridge, out of the field, and tackled his sorry rearend. I laid on top of him and clamped both hands around his neck until dad got there. Round two. After we came back up the road bed I heard the other bird (original bird we were after) gobble down in the creekbed. I told dad to hang his bird up, and come on. We got set up about 100 yards from where we just killed the first one. I got the bird to cut me off with a few soft clucks. We played back and forth a few minutes until he shut up. I knew he was on the way. I scratched in the leaves and he sounded off less than 50 yards to my right (not a good place). I had to swing on the bird, just before he entered an opening. I knew I had to shoot soon or he would be ON TOP of my dad. He picked his head up at 35 yards and the rest is history. First double with my dad ever. Love it. Both two year olds, 9" and 9 3/4" beards.

I would have loved to see you chasing that gobbler. Congrats on a great hunt. I have NEVER ran that hard in my life. The turkey would have gotten away if dad hadn't shot it in the wing. It tried to fly several times before I caught it. Glad I drank gatorade before the hunt.....lol.

That is awesome. Definitely a day you won't forget. Congrats!
